"HANDS UP, Don't Shoot"

George Perry Floyd Jr. was an African-American man who was murdered by a police officer in Minneapolis, Minnesota, during an arrest made after a store clerk suspected Floyd may have used a counterfeit twenty-dollar bill, on May 25, 2020. A year removed from his death Black people, who account for 13 percent of the U.S. population, accounted for 27 percent of those fatally shot and killed by police. That means Black people are twice as likely as white people to be shot and killed by police officers.

In this PSA the Movement for Black Lives, in collaboration with the Working Families Party, highlight the global solidarity shown in response to these treacherous acts.
